Interesting read. I haven't been able to watch the new series, but I have seen another documentary about the cult.

The angle in the documentary I saw was that the local community was conspirering against the cult and planted roumours of murder plots, blackmail etc.

Maybe someone is trying to "clean" the reputation of the cult?
