Sirao Garden - Little Amsterdam?
As ambitious as it sounds, we Filipinos have claimed one of our attractions in Cebu as the Little Amsterdam. Located in Sirao, Cebu, the Sirao Garden has been luring local and international tourists alike with its beautiful display of various flowers that are strategically set on a mountain-top. The experience it gives to visitors is not just merely watching flowers but also enjoying the vast display of green hills around the garden. The city could also be seen from its point of view, making it just the right place to spend the night when one wants to watch city lights. It is a paradise for the nature-lovers and travel bloggers to enjoy.
Since it is located on top of a steep mountain, the modes of transportation are limited to motorcycles and pick-up trucks although a car could also dare its way there. Motorcycles for rent are also stationed on the foot of the mountain for tourists with no vehicles of their own. Normally, the journey to the top of the mountain would take about 30-40 minutes. We can also say that the journey alone is amazing as it already showcases streets filled with plants and flowers, and mountain views which add to the excitement of seeing the actual location. The beautiful road is like the appetizer for the main dish which is the Sirao Garden.
Upon reaching the peak of the mountain, a grand gate decorated with vines and ornamental flowers will welcome you, like a congratulatory statement for reaching the garden. It stands there with a promise of wonderful things yet to happen once you step in.
Indeed the finish line is magnificient. You will be led by a staircase across a vast plantation of flowers: sunflowers on your left, celosia flowers on the right. The celosia, also known as rainbow flower, is the most attention-grabbing thing of the garden. The flower's name is a Greek word which means 'burning', and indeed it lives up to its name. Celosia has become famous for its natural color combination of red, orange, and yellow which gives it a flame-like appearance. No wonder why it has been the hottest deal in the garden ever since. Variety of flowers are also planted in the garden like roses and orchids, and many more to be named here. (To be honest, idk most of them) Altogether, the flowers showcase an overall mesmerizing view that melts the frozen heart.
Aside from the flowers, a unique feature can also be enjoyed in the garden: the wind mill. It could be compared to the wind mills in the city of Amsterdam. Because of this, the garden got its name Little Amsterdam. Lots of other features include bicycles, benches with teddy bears, a hall with sofa to relax, hammocks, a coffee shop and, ofcourse, a souvenir store - all for you to enjoy!
Indeed a visit to this wonderful place is worth every penny and time. The benefit your soul can experience is no doubt unforgettable. Surely, Cebu's Sirao Garden could be compared to international beauties such as that of Amsterdam.
