Short Trip To Genting Highlands Malaysia [Part 2]

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Welcome to Part 2 of my Genting Highlands trip!

I do hope to share more photos, especially some of the lovely food I ate. I hope you guys enjoy this post!

If you've missed the first part, do check this out: Short Trip To Genting Highlands Malaysia Part 1

Here goes!

On the way up

After leaving Genting Premium Outlet, we headed up to Genting Highlands, which was perhaps a 20 minutes journey if you're driving carefully.

My dad took over the driving so I managed to take a few shots on the way up. Some of the pictures were taken with a shutterspeed of 1/2000 so it's not clear.

Entrance of a temple.

You'll see lots of these advertisement billboards on the way up.

Coffee..

Feeling hungry on the way up.

They usually advertise the concerts that are going to be held. I once attended Il Divo's concert all the way up on Genting Highlands. Best experience ever!

Huge cradle rock.

First World Hotel

I've finally reached Genting Highlands, parked my car and I'm at the hotel lobby.

First World Hotel is actually the largest hotel in the world, in terms of the number of rooms. Hence, the rooms are really small!

Interesting ceiling decoration.

The first thing I did was to check on Steemit :)

The pretzel wasn't that nice. Just as a filler.

It was the start of the OCD project, so I was checking our group messages on Discord. Great mountain view as the background. Love it!

Can't leave Steemit behind. Gotta check my replies..

After checking into our room, we headed to Sky Avenue, the newer shopping area in Genting.

On the way..

Sky Avenue

Sky Avenue is pretty beautiful, but only on one side of it, which is connected to the casino. They have huge LED screens all around the place and it's bright regardless of what time it is. Love the change around here.

Long queue for casino rewards

They have lots of new eating places these days, including Din Tai Fung, Canton-i, Dragon-i, Absolute Thai, Burger & Lobster, Motorino, Cafes Richard, Tonkatsu and so on. Most of them are pretty classy.

Walkway with restaurants at the side.

Everyone comes here and take a photo of this Burger & Lobster sign for some reason. Me included.

They now have a lounge at the bottom and a jazz band.

Looks like Urban Food Hall.

We had lunch at Canton-i, which is similar to the branches in Kuala Lumpur.

Menu

Appetizer.

Noodles with beef brisket and BBQ pork. Quite fatty but pretty good! You can choose other types of meat as well.

My favorite deep fried dumplings!

Fried tofu. Better than expected.

Their congee which came with "you tiao".

We actually spent our time at the casino quite a lot and we can't take pics inside of it. So I guess that's pretty much for Day 1.

We had dinner at Morganfields but I didn't bring my DSLR. I've some low-quality smartphone camera shots but I don't think I'll put it here.

View from the room.

Pictures were taken with Nikon D3400 but they're unedited. I hope Steemit will sponsor my Lightroom subscription soon.

That's it for part 2. Part 3 will come soon!

Thanks for reading guys! Appreciate it!

The "you tiao" looks a bit cheapo @howtostartablog . I hope you did not get ripped off from Canton-i. I actually love their "bucket rice".

Genting has indeed looked really different from the last I have been up there 9 years back. :p

Everything in Genting is a rip off anyway.. :P

Wow! They really revamp the whole place, no longer look like old moldy mall. Haha. Did you visit the GPO during that trip? Same like JPO?

I think they're tearing down the old part of First World. Probably to change it to Fox. Yea I have some pictures of GPO in Part 1. It's like JPO but in a cool weather.
