The Legend of Osumi Canyon , located in Albania...!

in #travel6 years ago

Get familiar with the place:

This magnificent place and the natural beauty exists in Albania. Çorovoda is a town and a former municipality in Berat County, Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision and the seat of the municipality Skrapar.[1] The population at the 2011 census was 4,051.[2] The name of the town derives from the Slavic for "black water". It was the seat of the former Skrapar District.

The river Osum passes through the city. Upstream it forms canyons and caves which are the highest and the longest in Albania[citation needed]. The river provides opportunities for kayaking and other aquatic sport.

The smaller Çorovoda River also flows through the city and mouths into the Osum river. Five km northeast of Çorovodë it formed the Gradec Canyon. In one of its cliffs the presumably biggest cave of Albania named "Pirogosh" is located. Allegedly, two kings, Piro and Goshi, named it. Also of note is the Ottoman-era Kasabashi stone bridge over the Çorovoda river.

Some archaeologists believe Çorovodë might be the oldest city in Albania[citation needed]. They have found ruins of some churches and a buried castle in Prishta which might be more ancient than the castle of Berat

Lets continue...

It was precisely the special beauty and fascinating shape of this canyon that legends about it, which have traveled mouth-to-mouth to this day. Among them is the legends of the bride and that of the path of the saint Abaz Ali.

Legend links the cave of "The Bridge of the Bridges," mentioned above, with the fate of a bride who was marrying without her desire, but who was forced to observe the old habit. Krushqi were returning with the bride they had taken to another village, when they arrived here the bride tells them that "they were being taken to the husband without her wish", but the brethren did not answer. So she thought of her own escape plan.

Praying to the Lord, he turns to the rock of the canyon: "Open, O rock to get rid of the embarrassment that has caught me." And the rock heard, and immediately opened a hole, cavity. The bride jumped out of the horse and hid in this hole. Krushqi returned to the village without him.

Later this hole began to be visited by young brides seeking to become children. The second legend relates to the strange forms created by the karst (digestion) of limestone in the water.

These shapes are similar to the traces of a horse and a rod. They are located near the village of Dhores, about 5 km from the town of Çorovodës. Legend describes them as the traces of the saint Abaz Ali, who came to Tomor from Qerbelaja, riding on his white horse. He flew and left his foot on the Kayce chapel, from where he flew again to Mount Tomor. Bektashi believers to appease the soul seek the help of the path of saint Abaz Ali.

As soon as you cross the Corozovo town and take over the river, suddenly the magnificent view of the Canyon of Osumi emerges. This canyon is still unknown due to lack of publicity, it is one of the pearls of Albanian nature and a virtually virgin country to be explored by both domestic and foreign tourists. The canyon starts at a place called Hambull, about 18 kilometers from the town of Corovode, and is cut off by the Lapan village because the river bed is expanded to a place called "Father's Mill" and from there to Grepcke's Vault, nearly two kilometers from the town of Çorovoda, the canyon looks magnificent and offers beautiful and unrepeatable views. But its most beautiful part lies from the village of Blezencke to the end of the village of Cerenisht.
