Travelling together #2 : Visiting Tulcea & Constanta near the Black Sea!

in #travel7 years ago

Some time ago with my wife, we have visited the cities close to the Danube Delta, initially that was our main destination but since the day we had the tour through the Delta was raining we decided to visit around and see the surroundings.

We have started with the town of Tulcea, a pretty small town close to the Danube, a tranquil place that had its enchantment.

Being close to the Black Sea you can see eolic fields everywhere, I think because of the currents they have strong winds here.

You can notice the building in the back of the trees, it´s common to see golden rooftops on the Orthodox churches all around Romania.

This was one of my favorite places, a very tranquil place near the Danube river where you can see these fisherman boats apparently stranded, but they serve as a sustainable source of income for many families in the area.

Well... guess this one was abandoned, great for pictures though. :)

After visiting the surroundings we headed to a small village near Tulcea

And stopped by old fortress ruins called Enisala, though there is not much documentation about the place they say its origins are from the XIII century, made for military and administration purposes, later becoming a trading surveillance center.

The fortress is placed on top of a hill and you can see everything 360º around. There are some rough winds here but it´s a great spot to visit on a hot summer day.

In this area people sustain themselves not only because of fishing, but there are many sheep and goats pasting the green fields you see all around.

As we were getting ready to go back to the hotel, we stopped by this lovely camping site, it´s a small island in the middle of the Delta, where they also have tours trough the delta in private boats, we are planning to stop here on our next visit to the Danube Delta, hope this time we will be able to have good weather and visit such a unique place full of life.

Hope you enjoyed this small virtual tour, I really recommend you to visit Tulcea and the Danube Delta if you are around.

Thanks for watching (Medium).jpg
