Today Okinawa travel story about a potluck party that was opened in a guest house where I stayed. You can meet my Okinawa travel whole story through Atravel July which is a Korea travel magazine.

안녕하세요. 여러분.

오늘 이야기는 오키나와여행 때 머물렀던 게스트하우스에서 열렸던 포트락파티에 관한 내용이예요. 모든 이야기는 아트래블 7월호에서 만나볼 수 있어요.

7 p.m. Guests who stay the guest house started one two gether in the kitchen. They were busy to cook by food ingrediences what they brought. The most guests who stay here were Japanese. Thus I could see many Japanese foods as steam rolled up miso soup and well deep-fried vegetables. 8 p.m. People came out a dining room with thier foods. Right. Sgoi(Janese, means awesome) party started.

저녁 7시. 게스트하우스에 모인 여행자들이 하나, 둘 주방으로 모이기 시작한다. 각자 준비한 식재료를 꺼내 들고 요리하기 바쁘다. 일본 사람들이 많이 머무는 게스트하우스답게 김이 모락모락 나는 미소국부터 기름에 잘 튀겨진 일본식 야채튀김까지 종류도 다양하다. 북적거리는 주방에서 음식을 하나씩 들고 거실로 나오는 시간 저녁 8시. 말 그대로 스고이~한 포트락파티가 시작된다.

Before start dinner, we introduce ourselves one by one. There isn't any fixed form for introduction. Where I am from, how old I am, what I do, why I come to Okinawa... People spell out many things. Finish up with clapping. We met each other for the first time, but felt familiar not like stranger. Masa who is 20's young man and work for a public enterprise in Tokyo had a charmming smile. Misno who teaches a play to elementary kids overflowing room, middle-aged. Attractive middle-aged woman who came here with her kid decied Kimchi for her nick name while traveling Okinawa. Young Korean man who is 30's and work for Jal airline helped me translate what I said in Japanese to people and what other Japanese said in Korean to me.

먼저, 식사를 하기 전 돌아가며 자기소개를 한다. 정해진 양식은 없다. 어디에서 왔고, 몇 살이고, 어떤 일을 하며, 여행은 왜 오게 되었는지 쏟아낸다. 마무리는 물개박수. 다들 처음 만나는 사이인데 남 같지 않다. 도쿄의 공기업을 다닌다는 20대 청년 마사상은 서글서글한 미소가 매력적이고, 초등학교에서 연극을 지도한다는 미즈노상은 멋진 중년의 여유가 흘러넘친다. 5살 아이와 함께 여행 온 젊은 한국 어머님은 닉네임을 '김치'라고 붙일 정도로 센스가 넘치고, 일본항공사에 다니는 30대 한국 청년은 능수능란한 일본어 실력으로 우리말을 통역한다.

I and my friends prepared Zapagetti that one of Korean black sauce ramen for this potluck party. We actually worried about this because we didn't know whether people like it or not. But people said 'Sgoi'(Japanes, means awesome). What a relief. Zapagetti captured people's heart. After sharing food together, people gethered kitchen. Two people did the dishes, other two people dry dishes with a cloth, and other people organized dried dishes. It was like a specified role. Specially old people try to do the hard things. That was unfamiliar but fresh because I think I live in a rough society. I met traveller's night that day that nobody care nations, ages, or gender. We saw each other's face and thought one thing. 'What do we miss?'

오늘 포트락 파티에 우리가 고민하다 내놓은 음식은 무려 짜파게티(와우)! 실은 살짝 걱정을 했는데 다행히 여기저기서 "스고이(대단해)!"가 튀어 나온다. 역시 코리안 단짠은 우리를 배반하지 않는다니까. 그날 짜파게티는 일본인 게스트들의 마음을 단단히 사로잡았다. 그렇게 음식을 나눠 먹고 난 후, 누구라 할 것 없이 부엌에 다시 모여든다. 두 사람은 설거지를 하고 또 두 사람은 그릇의 물기를 닦고 나머지 사람은 물기 없는 그릇을 찬장에 옮기거나 거실을 정리한다. 마치 미리 역할을 정해 놓은 것처럼. 특히 나이 많은 일본인 분들이 궂은일을 먼저 하려는 통에 신선하기까지 하다. 사람 위에 사람 있다고 생각하는 거친 사회와 뉴스 속에서 허우적대다가 오랜만에 국적, 나이, 성별 상관없이 어울리는 여행자들의 시간을 만난다. 우리는 서로의 얼굴을 바라보
며 같은 생각뿐이었다. '우리가 뭘 잊고 살았던 거지?'

11p.m. The light of guest house where is located in the Okinawa north keep alive. Because of beer vending machine which sells orion beer and pineapple beer for 200 yen, we didn't worry about stockout of beer. We talk through body language and few Japanese we know. Someone suggested that let's go to sea nearby the quest house. A guest who visit here every year guide us to get the sea.

밤 11시. 오키나와 북부 끝에 위치한 게스트하우스의 불은 꺼지지 않는다. 200엔으로 뽑아 마실 수 있는 오리온 맥주와 파인애플 맥주 자판기 덕분에 술 떨어질 걱정은 하지 않는다. 인터넷 통역기와 손짓과 아는 일본어 단어를 총동원해 이야기를 이어간다. 그러다 누군가 게스트하우스 바로 앞 바다로 나가 보자고 제안한다. 매년 이 맘 때쯤 여길 찾는다는 게스트가 익숙하게 바닷가로 가는 길을 안내한다.

The night sea was dark and there was no light except the only one guest house. The sky of silent Okinawa night sea sparkled with stars and a shooting star. The guest who guided us told us step on the area that a tide ebbs. For a while wondering. Something was sparkling. That was a noctuluca.

The night bring fantasy to reality. That was just one night but everything was so special.

밤바다는 까맣고 주변 불빛이라곤 저 멀리 보이는 숙소가 전부인 이곳. 고요한 오키나와 밤바다 위에 별들이 반짝인다. 가만히 쳐다보면 간혹 별똥별도 지나간다. 우리를 안내한 게스트가 발아래 썰물이 지나간 물웅덩이를 밟아보란다. 의아함도 잠시. 참방참방 물장구를 치자 어랏? 무언가 순간 반짝거린다. 야광충이란다.

세상에나, 판타지를 현실로 가져온 듯한 밤. 고작 하루를 건너왔을 뿐인데 바다와 별과 빛의 곤충들이 짜릿한 밤이다.
