Targezout, Awesome Surf Breaks, Cool MotorhomessteemCreated with Sketch.

After a week, we left Imsouane, driving in a haze of Saharan dust south. We had two missions - a 12 V battery in Agadir to replace the lithium one which refused to hold charge, and new cushion covers for the camper.

The drive was gorgeous - in fact, writing this a few days on, a LOT of drives here are stunning. For me, seeing the surf was in incredible, as I've been watching all these surfing films of Morocco for years!

Boilers was EPIC. I wouldn't paddle out there as it's a fairly heavy wave but it was so nice to watch. It's named for an old ship boiler that's under the paddle out zone. There's lots I could talk about the surf round here but it's too hard to write on my phone! Plus there's only a small audience of Hive folk that'd be interested haha.

At Anchor Point, very close to Targhazout, we watched surfers on a point break for a while and enjoyed the various live in vehicles parked up, including this school bus and a huge Renault that totally dwarfed Buttercup. We decided that anything bigger than a Sprinter, including huge expedition vehicles, are too big for us. Too much petrol and too hard to get around.

We only spent a few hours in Targezout as it seemed a bit busy for us, but could see it would be an awesome tourist destination for surfers and families.

There was quite a few surf shops, eateries and hotels, enough that people who wanted to learn how to surf or shop for souvenirs could be satisfied. I bought a wide brimmed hat as the sun was pretty intense, and some sunblock.

We stopped and had a veggie burger and watched the water for a while before heading to Agadir. It was a good idea to stop as it was a super hot day.

I think if we hadn't spotted Imsouane first we would have stayed here for longer but due to Dad being sick and having less time than we thought we really needed to get going.

From the top road we looked down and noticed a pop top Defender free camping in a car park. I recognized it to be True Blue Travellers who have quite the following for their You Tube channel, but funnily enough they'd followed US first for our pop top build so we popped down to say gday. She's Aussie and he's British, like us, so we had lots to talk about for a few hours!

This meant it was too late to pick up a battery so we found a camping spot inland a little. The free camp was too full of rubbish for us - plus, we like a shower and peace and quiet and these camp spots are only about 8 euro a night. We are more keen for free camping in better spots in the mountains. The coast is too full of van lifers for us.
