grey580 visits Disney's new World of Pandora or was it worth the 3 hour wait in line?

Hello fellow Steemians! Grey here and today I'm writing about Disney's new World of Pandora.

In case you haven't heard Disney recently opened a new attraction called World of Pandora. Based on James Camerons movie Avatar. The Pandora attraction is a new area opened in Disney's Animal Kingdom which was formerly Camp Mickey. The Pandora area consists of two rides, some outdoor entertainment, shops and food. The cooler of the two rides, IMO, was Avatar Flight of Passage with the Na'vi River Journey being something akin to Disney's other slow water rides.

The day we arrived at Animal Kingdom we rushed right into the park headed straight to the Pandora area. And what we saw when we walked in was very cool. Disney did a good job of giving you the feel of being in Pandora. There's strange looking plants all over the place along with the floating rocks that were in the film.

After looking at the cool scenery we headed for the Avatar Flight of Passage ride. Unfortunately when we went to go make the line we saw that there was a 3 hour long wait ahead of us. At hearing this we almost left. However with it being 8:30 am and not that hot yet we decided to brave the line.

Now it's never fun being in line for 3 hours. My feet were hurting like crazy after the first hour. And the kids were going nuts from boredom. Even though the wait sucked we got to take a good look at the Pandora scenery which was awesome. Again Disney did a really great job recreating the feel of Pandora.

I'm not sure how long we waited to get into the interior waiting area of the ride. However once we did we discovered there was more waiting to be done. But it sure did look awesome there.

As we moved out of the cave waiting area we go to another part of the waiting, the lab. Shit more waiting. lol. As you can see in the next pic the line loops around.

Again even though the wait sucked. Disney really had some cool stuff in here. Like this guy. And the other objects in the lab.

Finally after leaving the lab we got into the area right before getting onto the ride. They have this big screen on the wall showing visitors pairing up with an avatar and going on a flight.

The next picture foreshadows what the ride is. You getting onto a Banshee and going for a ride on it.

Was it worth the 3 hour wait?

Hell yes! This ride was something totally new that I've not experienced before. Normally these rides are variations on roller coasters or some sort motion controlled ride. But this was a bit different. Basically you get onto this seat that simulates an avatar riding a banshee. And when you are secured in the seat the ride begins. A giant screen opens in front of you and you get taken on a banshee flight. The seat is pretty neat in that you hear and feel the banshee  breathing while you are on it. Almost like it was alive. And while you're paying attention to what's going on in front of you almost feel like you're there. I won't spoil the ride with exactly what happens. But if you've seen the movie. Expect to experience some of that. Personally I thought it was very cool.

I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to read my post. Hopefully you enjoyed the pictures. And if you'd like to see more pics from my trip you can follow this link to see more. There's some more pics of Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Enjoy.
