Hello, I decided to start this journey on Steemit with our last family trip to India - Rishikesh capital of Yoga. So beautiful, so peaceful, wonderful and amazing. I really can't put in into words. You must see it to believe it.

RISHIKESH is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in north India. It is known as one of the holiest places to Hindus. Since ancient times Hindus visited Rishikesh in search of higher knowledge with meditation.

We went there for one month, in November 2017. I decided to upgrade my knowledge about Yoga. I successfully finished teachers training course ( TTC 200 ) and became Yoga teacher :) I am excited about my Yoga journey because there is much more to learn about Yoga, meditation and life itself.

Rishikesh and Haridwar were the first cities in India to given the title of "twin national heritage cities". Due to the religions, significance to the place, non-vegeterian food and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Many famous and well known people came here to Rishikesh, one of the most talked about are still THE BEATLES and the BEACH BOYS who visited MAHARISHI Yogi's Ashram. Today is closed but not forgotten.

GANGES - the holy, the sacred river. Here in Rishikesh the river leaves the Shivalik Hills in the Himalayas and flaws into the plains of northern India. There are several temples ( ancient and new ) along the banks of the Ganges.

You can feel so much energy - positive, calm, attractive, magical. People come here to wash away their sins, to clean their bodies and souls, to clean their mind and share their wishes with the holy Ganges. Me and my babygirl did the same. I felt so pure and loved, blessed, without thoughts, no distraction. Really is a special place along the banks of Ganges wherever you go - pure serenity. Freedom to be yourself. LOVE.

I can say for myself that I am nature girl, I love everything that nature gives us, creations, animals, food and place to stay. Loving and enjoying every single moment spending in nature. Here I rediscover my connection to nature.

When I had a free time we went sitting on the banks of Ganges. We felt the energy around us, we enjoyed every single moment that we spent by the river.  We so much enjoyed meeting local people and tourists, amazed by the water and jungle around us with so many different kind of animals. Cows, dogs and monkeys were everywhere. By the river we saw different kind of birds, fishes jumping out of the river, horses, donkeys, lizards and spiders. Amazing. We wanted to see elephants and tigers, but here they are living in the jungle and are wild and dangerous. So the locals leave them alone, they don't go to the jungle because that is animals home. And they believe that animals knows that so they don't come to the city if not necessary. The locals says other animals like tigers only come near the city in dry season to drink from Ganges. My Yoga teacher told us a story how he and his brother saw a tiger coming on a Lakshman Jhula bridge. They sometimes come for a quick easy meal like a cow or a dog. What left a special mark in our hearts are the local people. So friendly and kind, free of the system and fast lifestyle like we are used to. They really live a simple and happy life. We felt in love with their culture and history.

We were like rockstars, everyone wants to take a picture with us :) We are probably all over their FB. Special and precious moments we will never forget.

More to come

Hi Mojca! Welcome on Steemit! I've been vegan for the past 3 years now!

I think you should add the tag #introduceyourself due to your post being an introduction post. You'd have to remove one tag but if you do I recommend you keeping the vegan tag. That's how I found your post.

Hey, thanks for advice :)

Wow, sounds like an amazing trip! I've heard so many magical things about this city and am totally excited to get there myself one day and learn about the Indian ashram culture, yoga and meditation :)

Yes it was an amazing one. You should go, you will LOVE it :)

Did you do some more traveling in India, after or before visiting Rishikesh? Anything to recommend in this vast country? ;)

No not really, I had Yoga classes all day so I was quite busy. We took the taxi from Rishikesh to New Delhi on a last day, haha that was funny. The traffic there is insane :) We have a plan to go back and only do the traveling and sightseeing :) If you decide to go to Rishikesh let me know ;)

I can imagine that the traffic is quite an adventure there! That‘s a pity, but I always prefer to rather experience one thing in depth than trying to squeeze too many activities in one journey ;-)

Amazing post, really beautiful photos and a very nice introduction :) Really glad to see you on Steemit finally :P Welcome to this awesome community, thanks for sharing and have a nice day. Steem On!
