First Time in Switzerland : We Are On The Top of Europe, Jungfraujoch

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

My first time in Zurich, Switzerland. Many friends of mine who have been to Switzerland always said that this country is really beautiful and it's worth to explore every town and go up to the mountains even though the expenses here are expensive. So my colleague and I decided to go up to Jungfraujoch - a notable saddle in the Bernese Alps, connecting the two four-thousander peaks Jungfrau and Mönch, at an elevation of 3,466 metres (11,371 ft) above sea level.

We joined the local tour to Jungfraujoch and that would be easier for us to go and come back on time (we need to fly back to HongKong tomorrow morning and we have to save some energy for tomorrow flight!). The trip started at 8:30a.m and the tour bus ride took almost 3 hours to a town called Interlaken from downtown in Zurich, a traditional resort town in the mountainous Bernese Oberland region of central Switzerland. Then here we go : take the train and go to The top of Europe.

You can see how the mountains around the wooden houses which are absolutely lovely. The tour guide said that it's a policy for the people who build the house here that every house is needed to built in the standard size, color and style. I love the cute houses with big garden here :)

After around 35 mins ride, we just reached the first train station and then we had to transit to another train to the top. then again we need another 30 mins to go there. It is pretty tiring but it's worth. The train went so slowly because the oxygen there is less and it can avoid altitude sickness happen so fast.

Here we go! Plateau on jungfraujoch. We were lucky as the weather was really nice and sunny compared to yesterday (raining and thunderstorms day). It wasn't cold as all. It was around 24 degrees and shiny all the time. I am so grateful as people always missed the chance due to the unpredictable weather up on the mountain, but we made it!

I took this picture on Sphinx Observation, an astronomical observatory located above the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland. It is at 3,571 m (11,716 ft) above mean sea level and it is one of the highest observatories in the world.

I did not take many photos here cause the pictures cannot tell how amazing and incredible Jungfraujoch is and the time didn't allow me to do so. I wanted to be with the mountains. Feeling the power of nature by our eyes and heart which is the best way to capture the most beautiful, stunning views of the nature's beauty. It's not easy to go to the top but It's totally worth to come here once! Being with the nature like this definitely can lift up my spirit. I am so grateful to be there.

Hope you enjoy reading my post! More photos from Switzerland are coming soon.

Much love,
Gladys
