Life and Times of a cross country coach passenger: My plane trip! With good pictures. NY to FL. Exclusives of old people sleeping.
Lets start this off with that I live in Lakeland FL, and I was visiting upstate NY for a weekend with the boys.
My main post of today is just about the airport experience. I had gotten a rental car from Syracuse for my 6 days in NY. When I showed up I went and returned my car. No issues there other than I was late and didn't fill up the gas tank (OH Well). I went in and got my ticket and as I was on my way up to security when I realized that I left my wireless headphones hanging from the rear view mirror of the rental car. I ran down and luckily the guy was still around and let me in to grab them. I was running late though so I hurried up and got into the security line. Decent sized lines at the time, but it went smoothly, like 10-15 mins to make it through. I finally got to gate that was across the airport and I see there are people standing in line, so I went and grabbed a sandwich at the small food counter .
Got my turkey sandwich, and headed over to the gate again and seen that there was a delay. Awesome! That worked out great. So i sat and ate my sandwich and charged my phone and headphones. Then I start realizing that it keeps getting delayed. I call my beautiful GF and let her know what was going on and she reminded me about my connecting flight... I went and talked to the front desk and YES I was going to miss my connecting flight. I could either be stuck in Syracuse or Detroit. So I chose Syracuse since it is only an hour and a half from my town. Got my ticket for noon the next day. Thank You @IR3m0del For driving up to come get me and for bringing me back the next day. Took 6 Hrs out of his busy two days. Annoying that I got rid of my rental car and everything. But it worked out. @IR3m0del brought me up the next morning and I already had my ticket and no one was in security so I almost made it through that quickly, but my backpack has a built in battery charging pack and they didn't know what it was... So they searched the bag and I ended up talking to them for like 10 mins about the battery and then beer in Tampa. I went and got to my flight on time to ATL this time.
Plane ride kind of sucked. I sat in a 2 seater row with a bigger guy. The whole plane ride it was like some one was farting onions. So gross, stunk so bad, I tried turning the fan my way and everything. Nothing would help. I finally got into ATL and I walked around finding food and ended up with some chinese food. MMMMMMMMM General Tsao, spicy thai chicken, lo mein, and fried rice.
It was delicious. Found a seat across from my terminal and plugged in my devices and ate my food. This plane ride I sat in a window seat by a old lady and a bigger guy. I think grandma was drunk or drugged, she tried talking to me and I could not understand her, she was kind of rambling on and slurring.
Then she kept nodding off hitting my shoulder a couple times with her head. I watched a movie and nodded off a couple times too though. After landing went to baggage claim and was pleasantly surprised by my amazing GF. It is nice to be home but I don't miss the weather down here!
