SAN ISIDRO HOUSE!. CIUDAD BOLIVAR, VENEZUELA.

One of the most interesting visits in Ciudad Bolívar is to the house of San Isidro, an 18th century house owned by the Cornieles family, unique in style and beauty in the city. It was the residence of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and very frequented during the Angostura campaigns, where he prepared his famous Angostura speech to the Republican Congress, meeting in 1819. The house was a part of a hacienda that belonged to Don José Luis Cornieles, owner of the house where Andres Roderick installed the printing of Correo del Orinoco (Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar State).

The house after belonging to José Luis Cornieles and passing through several tenants and owners was acquired by the Diocese of Guayana and destined for the Bolivar orphanage from 1937 to 1954; Later, the farm was bought by the Government of the State of Bolívar and by 1962 it began a museum called Museo de Talavera, to pay tribute to Doctor Mariano de Talavera y Garcés, Bishop of Trícala and Guayana.

This house has been known by the names of Morichal de San Isidro, La Lajita and Casa del Tamarindo; Today its a museum to show how were the houses of the time and the beauty of its gardens.
