SALIB KASIH- TARUTUNG, SUMATERA UTARA. INDOESIA
"Salib Kasih" is a monument to honor and appreciate the services of the Nomanssen Christian missionary. This monument is located in Dolok Siatas Barita, Siatas Barita Subdistrict or south direction of Kampung Tarutung, built since October 1993. It is believed also that the place built as this monument is a residence of sombaon.
Siatas Barita is made to stagnate Dr. Ingwer Ludwig Nomannsen a Christian missionary from Germany. He is considered meritorious on the spread of Christianity in the land of Batak. In the course of spreading religion, he was about to be killed for spreading Christianity, you know! However, the threat of the killings did not stop his efforts in spreading Christianity in North Tapanuli.

The coolness of the air and its natural beauty along the way made me eager to walk faster again to climb Siatas Barita's dolok.
Less than half an hour's walk is quite exhausting, I climbed atop the Siatas-Barita dolok. Where the monument of the Cross of Love stands majestically. The cross of love is a monument in the shape of the Cross which has a height of 31 meters supported and supported by three giant pillars, as a symbol of the Trinity. Under the Cross was a small prayer room and in front of which lay a seat with a capacity of 600 people and equipped with a pulpit just behind the pulpit staring deep into the stretch of rura silindung.
It is said that in ancient times Dolok Siatas Barita is where Sombaon live. Sombaon is the Spirit of Nature that is high in dignity in the beliefs of Ancient Batak. This spirit is very feared because it is believed to determine the good fortune of the people who live around it, so at that time not infrequently Sombaon or this place is revered by giving pelean (offerings) in the hope of auspicious luck and salvation. At the top of the barita this was about 1863 ago, DR.I.L.Nomensen looked at the valleys of Silindung that was so beautiful and spacious, while saying his prayer: "LIVE OR DIE, LET ME STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS NATION TO SPREAD YOUR WORD AND KINGDOM".
