RE: 11 Random, But Vital Travel Tips for Visiting SE Asia

Bathroom Responsibilities.

I know Americans are not comfortable talking about toilet things...but ppl need to get used to using a bidet. You feel way cleaner and surprisingly better. You wouldn't think that washing your bum would make you feel so much better...well...not in that way...but it does! It's also really gross to touch your poopy with a toilet paper covered hand. I would buy a travel bidet before leaving and get used to it. Still carry the wipes though, cuz they are super useful, and help to dry a wet bum. They'll probably find that they like a bidet a lot better. At the very least, it's less gross.

Do Not take tuk-tuks for every ride. For the experience is cool once or twice, but the money they charge is usually doubled and they charged per person. Take a Grab everywhere and save your cash. One week I spent $300 USD, gallivanting around Bangkok. The next week I used Grab. No SHIT…$80…that is a $220 difference, folks, and I did just as much running. Remember, I keep a list for everything, expenses included. If you don’t have access to Grab, 3/5 cars you see, are Taxi’s. Make sure you tell them to turn on the meter and your good.

That's hella expensive. I would never want to spend that much going around the place. Taxis here are hella expensive for just one ride, so I just never take them anywhere. I would try to take public transpo whenever I could or rent a bike. You see a lot more on a bike.

Clothing, Same Same but Different.

One good thing is that the costs of everything is so much lower over there you can buy custom clothing a lot cheaper. Then you can have something made for you in your size EXACTLY that you'll love. Or have clothing resized a bit.

Bring what you need. Most of the lotions I found all had whitener in them.

That really sucks! Because airports are fucking psycho when it comes to liquids. You can bring a bit...but you have to seriously limit yourself.

Vaccines.

I always worry about vaccines. Not everyone seems to be able to agree on what you actually need though. There are the ones suggested by like the official places...which aren't actually that many...then there are ones that are probably just a good idea. Of course, some people reading the recommendations might view all of the possible suggestions as ones they have to get. XD

I would actually still suggest you be careful about tattoos...but that goes with anywhere. You gotta make sure they use new needles from a sterilized package and...with the ink...that's a potential problem anywhere as well. Then you have to take care of it properly. I'd say as long as you do standard precautions, you're probably at more risk from eating.

One gentlemen waiter asked me, “American Spicy or Thai Spicy”.

I use that term a lot in America...but mainly as a derogatory remark on how wimpy the spicy flavor is in most things. XD Often times you buy something labeled spicy and it's mild at best. They really should just start putting scoville units on anything labeled hot or spicy. It would be better if they at least agreed somewhat on what hot or spicy means. Then people that think they like hot things would know, no, they don't. They just like American Spicy.

Also, you accidentally repeated the end of your post.
