Travel Vietnam Day 1 - Sydney Airport To Ho Chi Minh City To My Tho
Woke up sooo early to get everyone (10 people) ready. Only had 3 hours sleep but I think the excitement of traveling is making me peak. I don't know when I am going to come down but I feel great!
Thinking what to have in the plane for lunch.
Took us 2 hours to get to Sydney International Airport. Sydney traffic at its best!
Exploring the airport, my friends were having a mental breakdown trying to find me. Couldn't hear my phone. Too busy looking at planes and food. I ate a salmon baguette. No photos, was too hungry. It was ok, not the crispiest baguette nor the smokiest salmon. It did curb my hunger.
I am in Vietnam! It's only 34 deg c but gotdang humidity is real!
Waited for our ride for 1 hour because of some miscommunication. Having an hour to waste, decided to eat at Popeye's.
The chicken skin was crispy and tasty. Chicken itself is a bit bland. Would have loved for the taste of that crispy skin penetrate the meat a bit but doesn't.
The problem is, it's damn expensive. A family meal costed $20. Same as buying KFC's bucket deal. Nothing special, sorry.
After 2 hours of waiting, our ride came with a free WIFI! Happy as a clown right now.
That means I can actually post something today as promised.
We are not staying in Ho Chi Minh City tonight. Heading straight to where I had the best Ga Kho anywhere. Ga kho is a caramelized fish in clay pot.
I have had a lot of ga khos in Vietnam at different cities. Nothing beats My Tho's ga kho.
I'll be having that later when we get there. It is now 7:09 PM. We should arrive by 8 PM, hoping. Check out the traffic though.

Here we are at My Tho with my favorite dish to eat, the ga kho.
Ok guys, as soon as I took a bite, I knew there's something different. This version is totally not the one I have had before. It is more peppery and the fish was not so tender. Really was very disappointed.
Luckily we ordered other dishes otherwise I would have had to go out in search of better food to satisfy my taste buds. One was the gan ju. I don't know how to spell their Vietnamese name, someone correct me. It's a sour fish soup with heaps of vegetables.
And we had this one. Deep fried bowl of shrimp goodness, banh kont, again I don't know the exact spelling.
It's now 10:10 PM, that's day one beautiful people. See you tomorrow!

Oh its ca kho, ga is chicken right? lol... trust me, you wouldnt like a peppery stale fish... yup u need those fresh veges for the oily banh khot.. getting hungry too.. looking forward to the grilled pizza in da lat... mmmmmmm cant wait!!
I love peppery stale fish. Hahaha. OMG Da Lat... beautiful landscapes, flowers, waterfalls... I miss it. Don't forget to post tons of pictures. Haha

What are prices like there? how much for a bowl of fish soup?
Thanks for reading the blog. Well I only put my hard earned money in steemit because I believe it will take off. It's very young, only a year old. Pretty sure reddit users will jump on. The same but with better incentives. Of course im speculating, it can go bust too.
Haven't had a bowl of soup yet. But it will be extremely cheap compared to US.
