Ghent - city worth to visit

Hi,

As I mentioned in my introduction, I was born in Ghent, Belgium. Since a lot of people probably won't know the city, I just want to give some more information about the city, since it was in the top 10 of cities to visit on Lonely Planet (2011)

Ghent is a beautiful city with a medieval centre. I added several photo's from the downtown which were taken during the 'Gentse Feesten', which is a yearly 10 -day festival in the centre of Ghent, with music, artists, parties, and lots of fun.

In the centre of the city is also a castle of which the earliest parts date from the 9th century.

You can see in front the Sint-Niklaas church, behind it the Belfort (UNESCO) and at the back Sint-Baafs cathedral

This is just a little introduction to Ghent. For those having plans to visit Belgium, make sure Ghent is on the list to visit.
