Tonight's Photo~On The Door Post Of Every Home
The Mezuzah
When visiting the land of Israel, be sure to look at the door posts. Every Jewish home or business and all motel rooms will have the Mezuzah hung on the door post. According to Scripture, every door post is to have the words of the Shema ( Deuteronomy 6:4-9, and Deuteronomy 11:13-21 ) All Jewish homes have the Mezuzah hung on the door post of their home. G-d commanded the Jewish people to keep his words always in their minds and hearts. Over the years it became the custom to have beautiful cases with small scrolls inside. These scrolls will have the words of the Shema written by a qualified scribe or sofer. Every time you pass under the door, you are to remember the words of Scripture. Most take time to say the beginning words that declare that G-d is One.
The beautiful and unique cases are an adventure in themselves. Rarely are they alike.
