Ogoh - Ogoh and silent day

in #travel7 years ago

Yesterday was silent day on Bali.

And from 6 am-6 am it is very silent then.

Every store is closed. People patrolling the streets to make sure everyone stays in their home.

The airport is shut down so no flights in or out the country and they even shut down the internet.

The day before are several parades were the Ogoh Ogoh goes to the street. Every village usually makes its own and it gets burned at the cemetery.

Some of them remind me of exgirlfriends.

Sonst war es ok hätte etwas mehr Essen kaufen sollen :-)

thanks for spreadinf my culture.
how was it feels to be silence all day long?
hope you were not got bored. : )

is that in Gianyar Regency?

It was ok but without internet it was a bit boring. Also I ran out of food and should have gotten a bit more.

Great photos! Is this a annual event? And what does it signify?

it is every year afaik.

To challenge the ghosts to come out I got told but I am not 100% sure there.

Seeing this looks like some set of African tradition when days are specially set aside for the celebration of some gods. Markets are usually shut down while some rituals are also done.

I hope you watched the event?

Was it fun?

I watched a bit but not everything. Was a fun experience
