Chiang Mai Wat Sri Suphan aka Silver Temple
One of the most unusual but coolest temples I have been so far is the silver temple in chiang mai.
The details were stunning and from what I have read there is quite a silversmith tradition in Chiang Mai.
Most of the temple is made with alloy and zinc while silver is used for the holy images.
Usually men and women are allowed in temples but this one is only for men with following explanation.
"Beneath the base of Ubosotha in the monastic boundary, many precious things, incantations, amulets and other holy objects were buried 500 years ago. Entering inside the place may deteriorated the place or otherwise the lady herself. According to this Lanna Belief, ladies are not allowed to enter the Ubosotha."
Die Details find ich immer so krass. Nicht schlecht mit Silber ;)
