great post, really shows us a lot of this place. I didn't know you have trolls in Russia too, i thought that was a scandinavian phenomenon. thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work :)
we call a russian troll - domovoy, they look after dom (house), keep it safe :)

do these domovoy's turn to stone if they walk out in sunlight? our trolls here in Norway turns to stone if they go out in the sunlight, thats why we have so many mountains
it's a nice legend! well... for people not for trolls, i guess :D
no... our domovoys are lucky not to have this problems with sunlight, they are just look fluffy (based on folklore)
but i guess this guy looks almost like a scandinavian troll :)
you should check out the movie/documentary TrollJegeren (Troll Hunter)
(you better not be a christian, they can smell christian blood and will for sure come for you)
they are pretty big! much bigger than domovoys...
luckily i believe in people and science so they will not come for me (well, i hope))). Now i wonder who is coming for people of my kind of believers though... :D
