Wanderlust Diary #01: Visiting the Biggest 3D Trick Art Museum in Asia (Part 1)

in #travel2 years ago (edited)

Want to have amazing unlimited 3D photos where you can go all crazy with your poses? Well that's easy. Check out the Art in Island in Cubao, Quezon City.

Art in Island is the biggest 3D trick art museum in Asia and one of the biggest in the world. Although Trick Art Museum Korea has a much larger square meter property (4,100 sq.m which is 300 sq.m greater than the Philippine version) , Art in Island is dubbed as the biggest 'as far as the number of paintings is concerned'. This was founded by Yun Jae Kyoung with a team of 18 Korean master painters who were specially flown in for the project. These artists worked together and created the paintings in the museum. Art in Island has over 200 masterpieces, including reproduction of works of masters, animals, Egyptian ruins and others.

Art in Island encourages visitors to "be part of art". And really, you need to take part in these paintings, otherwise, the 3D concept will just be in vain. Don't worry, there are marked spots/areas where you are encouraged to stand and have your photo taken. All you have to do is 'be in the moment' and have your 'creative mind work it's way to a great photo!'.

Enjoy and be crazy! That was my motto while we were inside the museum and taking tons of awesome photos. We arrived there on a Sunday just shortly after lunch and there were not much visitors there at the time so we were able to enjoy our visit. Even when there were crowds, the visitors were very patient and understanding in giving other guests the time in taking photos for each painting.

Here below are some of the photos taken during our visit. I have tons of them so I will be dividing them into two parts. Enjoy!

'come ride with me on this magic carpet'

'queen of the waves'

'I'm your genie in a bottle and I can make your wish come true'

'let's go!'

'cool water'

'a walk at the plaza'

'enjoying the beauty of Venice, Italy 😂'

'the apple of discord'

'stairway to heaven'

'into the dessert'

'an escape from the bulls'

'waking up to this view'

For those who are planning to visit the Art in Island very soon, here are a few things to consider:

  • Admission Fee:
    • Php 500 for adults (~10 US Dollars)
    • Php 400 for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (~8 US Dollars)
Note: please don't forget to bring a valid ID

Tips 😊

  • Wear/bring socks! (I did!) Shoes are not allowed inside the galleries. Outside shoes and slippers will be deposited at the shoe counter before entry. In case you have no socks with you and not planning on going inside barefoot, there are slipper socks available to visitors for Php 150 (~3 US Dollars)
  • Bring your fully charged cameras/phones! You will be taking a lot of photos and videos inside (trust me!). Keep in mind though that use of 'flash' and 'tripods' are not allowed.
  • Explore! There are so many paintings inside the museum that you may want to spend a couple or few hours inside to have really awesome shots. You could also go there earlier to avoid the crowd.😉
  • Be crazy and creative! You will get the desired outcome if you will surely 'be part of art'. And no need to be shy. You will be surprised on others' craziness when it's their turn.
  • Wear comfortable clothes! I'm glad I followed the advise of my friend and changed into jeans. There will be instances when you will be obliged to lie on the floor for the sake of 'instagrammable photos' 😀
  • Don't forget to follow the guides/marks on the floor for a wonderful 3D effect.

There you go! I think you're now ready to visit Art in Island. 😀 Cheers!

All the best! {always}
