The Treasures Of New Brunswuck Canada
Mulholland Point Lighthouse on Campobello Island In New Brunswick Canada
In Eastern Canada you will find amazing Maritime provinces. Among these spectacular Maritime provinces you will find New Brunswick. New Burnswick has several magnificent lighthouses, with Mulholland Point Lighthouse being one of the best. It is known for the ability to take a picture of the light house with Lubec,Maine showing in the background across the river. You can also take a picture of Lubec, Maine with Mulholland Point Lighthouse in the background, just across the river. The above picture shows Lubec in the background behind the lighthouse, just across the river.
The lighthouse dates back to 1882, when the Canadian Parliament set aside the money for it's construction. It was placed on the southern point of Campobello Island to assist boats traveling through the Lubec Narrows. The Lubec Narrows is a small waterway that passes between Maine, USA and New Burnswick, Canada. It was completed in 1884 and it's light first shinned in 1885. Malachi Parker was the first keeper at the lighthouse.
It was during this time, that Campobello Island became a popular place for the wealthy of both Canada and the United States. James Roosevelt Sr. built a summer mansion on the island and in 1883 the Roosevelt family made it their summer home. Their son, Franklin D. Roosevelt, became the United States Of America's 32nd President. He grew up spending his summers on the Campobello Island.
New Brunswick, Canada is spectacular for those who embrace nature. It is filled with beautiful rivers, spectacular Evergreen Forests, stately mountains, and the magnificent Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy is well known for the extreme high tides and is one of the top whale-watching places on the Provence.
Eleanor Roosevelt loved the island and came often. Her last trip was only a short while before her death, when she attended the dedication of the Franklin D.Roosevelt Memorial Bridge in 1962.
If you are in the Lubec area, be sure to spend some time in New Brunswick. It is just a short hop across the channel. Passports are required, but there is expedited crossing between the two countries at the point. Many families live in one country and work in the other.
