The Beauty And Wonder Of The Sea Of Galilee
The First Morning Light On The Sea Of Galilee
The wonders and beauty of the Sea of Galilee has lived on through the ages. This amazing lake is known in modern time as Lake Tiberias, in ancient Biblical times it was the Sea of Chinnereth, and more recently it is referred to as the Lake of Gennesaret. These are only a few of the names that this lake, located on the edge of the Valley of Gennesaret, is known by.
The beautiful and pleasant Mediterranean climate with it's fertile soils, provide a perfect location for growing many of the wonderful fruits that the Holy Land is known for. There are several rivers that flow into this fresh water lake, including the River Jordan. This makes water abundant, in an otherwise desert landscape. The beautiful plains go from the lake to the foot of the majestic mountains that surround it.
A Majestic Date Palm
Only one of the many fruits known to love the fertile soils of the Holy Land, the Date Palm is perhaps one of the most important fruits you can enjoy in your daily life. Through the different civilizations, we see the Date Palm respected as a tree of longevity and health. With a supply of dates on hand, there is no need for sugary sweets, that rot your teeth.
This spectacular fresh water lake has not changed much since the days that Jesus walked it's shores, over 2,000 years ago. It was here that He called out to simple fisherman, who were casting their nets, to follow Him. It was on this wondrous Sea of Galilee that He first called His disciples, "Fishers of Men." When you walk the shores of The Sea Of Galilee, you are walking in the very footsteps of Jesus. One of the many places this is recorded is in the Book of Matthew. There, by the Sea of Galilee is recorded his first followers being called.
Matthew 4:18-22 King James Version (KJV)
18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
This area, so rich in history, is amazing and calls out to those who seek a thoughtful adventure that goes back even to the time of other civilizations. There are ruins and museums to explore. Come, taste and see the simple pleasures of spending quiet mornings on the shores of The Sea of Galilee.
