Yuen Po Bird Garden is a traditional bird shop, in a traditional culture. In Hong Kong the people keep the ancient culture of songbird keeping. At the end of the market in Hong Kong, is a garden where older men take their birds for a walk, cage and all. On a weekend at the bird market, dozens of older men sit on benches in the sun surrounded by bird cages that have been hung in the trees in the shade. This is one part of traditional life in China and Hong Kong. Keeping songbirds and taking them for a walk is a custom as ancient as China, itself. Throughout mainland China and Hong Kong it is an important part of life.
