Chinese Stone Guardians At The Temple Of Dawn Wat Arun In Bangkok Thailand
Chinese Stone Guardian
Welcome to The Temple of Dawn Wat Arun, one of Thailand's finest and most elaborate temples. There are 16 different entrances to this temple, though only two are open to the public. Each temple has at least one stone guardian, and some several. Each of these statues are carved very elaborately in the distinctive Chinese artistic form. They are there to guard and protect the Temple of Dawn Wat Arun. There are many different types of statues, and one being warriors with weapons. These are the temple guardians.
The Temple Of Dawn Wat Arun
This is one of Thailand's finest Buddhist temples. It is located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. The temple is named for the Hindu god Aruna. She is often seen as early morning light reflecting off the beautiful stones that make up this 17th Century temple. The spires were added latter during the 19th Century. This was during the reign of King Rama II. He both designed and commissioned the spires to be added to the already elaborate 17th Century temple. The original temple went through many renovations during the reign of Rama V and was further restored during the years of 2013-2017. This is a magnificent example of the splendid architecture of Thailand.
If you have an interest in the history of this temple, there is an especially nice gift shop with many historical writings on the Temple of Dawn Wat Arun and it's Chinese Stone Guardians. The temple and the surrounding area is a perfect adventure for those who love the beautiful design work and amazing architecture. If you are looking for a perfect day trip, while in Bangkok, this will meet the expectations and desires of explorers who strive to see the unique and finest that Thailand has to offer.
