Wasilla Alaska: City Between Two Lakes

Wasilla Alaska is a city nestled in the arms of two lakes. Wasilla’s  temperatures are similar to Anchorage, making it an easy place to live.  Wasilla is the place to have a garden! Produce grown in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley are known to be extremely large. The rich soil and the long hours of summer sunlight produce amazing vegetables. Nothing tastes any better! Wasilla pumpkins are huge! Growers in the area take premium honors at the state fair, each year. On Wednesday morning, at the Museum, is an awesome farmer’s market. Come on out! Meet the farmers! The best produce in the state awaits! 

Wasilla is the starting point of the Itenorod Race. This is the largest sled dog race in North America.. Come watch the races! They are fun and exciting! Meet the mushers that mush these fantastic dogs through the most rugged terrain of the far north.You might even meet racing icon, George Attla. This 81 year old Alaskan native has a racing record that spans over 5 decades. If you ever got to watch him race, you were honored. It was amazing! It was wild! It was the Itenorod! This is a race you will never forget! 

Wasilla is the home of one of the most complete history museums in the state. Those who love history will love to explore the mining history of the region. The Dorothy G. Page Museum can keep you spell bound for several hours. There you will find much of the rich history of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley . A nice summer trip is the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry. It is located in Independence Mine, in Hatcher Pass. It is a 20-30 minutes drive in the summer. If you have never been there, it is a must see. Alaska is an amazing State! She is the last frontier! 

Wasilla is a vibrate city with a complete variety of quaint shops and big box stores. There are fantastic restaurants. Caribou sausage and  wild salmon are some of the delicacies you might find on the menu. There are many fine places of fine dining and complete hotel accommodations. Whatever you may need, you will find in Wasilla. 

Don’t let another year pass by, without coming up to the far northern State of Alaska. Today is the day! Pack your bags and grab that passport! It is time for adventure! It is time to visit Wasilla!
