Travel to the North. Kargopol

in #travel7 years ago

Photos processed, that I can start!

The route of the trip was defined as follows: Veliky Ustyug - Kargopol - Kenozero National Park, Vereshinino - Onega - Arkhangelsk - Veliky Ustyug.
It seems that everything is not so difficult, not so much - we can go. We calculated the time and left in the evening so that to be in working hours in the village Vershinino of Kenozero National Park with a stop in Kargopol. We traveled from Veliky Ustyug through Octyabrsky, Velsk, Konosha, and Nyandoma. The road to Octyabrsky is simply awful and dangerous! Broken asphalt with large pits, where it is easy to break through the wheel. We drove slowly, in some places 40 km/h. In general, the road went well only after Velsk - it's a dirt road, on which you can go 120 km/h, and after Nyandoma and at all a good asphalt.

The night went almost without sleep, only in Velsk we stayed for a couple of hours. In Kargopol we arrived at 10 am. There was a strong thunderstorm and nowhere in the whole city there is no light. Most of the shops are closed. We found an open shop, bought food, and went for a walk around the city.

The river Onega is beautiful, even in cloudy weather.

There are many churches here, almost like in Veliky Ustyug.

From the pier fish.

The town itself at first sight is sunk into the soul - cozy, old, beautiful!

See yourself!

So comfortable and calm I have not felt in any city yet!

It's just a city-museum!

Nothing to invent is not necessary, everywhere you look - everywhere a colorful frame is ready!

I'm not casual at the end of each sentence put an exclamation mark - words can not convey this!

I'm just delighted with Kargopol!

Next, there will be a story about the temples of Kargopol. To be continued...

Thanks for your photos :) You're turning like the archivist of the deep Russian countryside and it's a delight :) Try crowdfunding for publishing a book with your photos maybe

Thank you for watching! I'm glad you like it! Good idea for publishing a book by crowdfunding...but there are doubts...

Had to look on a map. Says its about 12 hours north of Moscow. Amazing now towns in the north look so much alike.
When does the snow start to fall up there? Are they days away? Does it fall year round?
