Situation on the rivers of the North-East of the Vologda region

On the rivers Northern Dvina and Sukhona in the Veliky Ustyug distict of Vologda region, ice cutting and ice blackening continue. Ice movements were noted in the area of ​​the village of Poldarsa, in Podsosenie, near the village of Novator.

In addition, two congestion formed in the sections Klimovo – Kalikino and Porog – Poldarsa.

Starting March 20, it is planned to begin blasting operations in congestion-hazardous areas. For carrying out preventive blasting, the required stock of explosives was created in the amount of 8 tons.

Now the water levels on the rivers of the Vologda region are 50-350 cm higher than the long-term average.

At the same time, the increase in levels in the rivers of the western and central regions of the region began to decline, and on the rivers of the eastern regions, due to congestion, it continued to grow.
According to the forecasts of hydrologists, the opening of the rivers is expected on March 30 - April 4.

If congestion occurs, water levels in the area of ​​Veliky Ustyug and Krasavino are forecasted at around 8.7 m. I recall that 7.2 m is considered a critical level.
