Life after disaster

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Flooding in Veliky Ustyug in 2016 in April affected not only the city itself, but also many villages in the entire region. Compensations were paid not to all residents affected by the disaster. We decided to find out how the villagers live after such a terrible event!

The village of Veprevo is located on the side of the river, that is on the other side of the river of the Northern Dvina from the city. In summer you can get there only by ferry. Now everything has changed there.

There are few people in the village. One of them Veprev Sergey Nikolaevich, has been living there for many years with his family.

His house was also damaged by the flood, the foundation and the stove were damaged. Without an oven in the village nowhere! But the commission examined all the damages and made a conclusion that special repairs are not required. Thus, the Veprev family was paid a mere penny, which is not enough even for whitewashing the stove.

The same situation is in all other houses and in all other villages.
The state took care only of urban residents, although there are a lot of problems with payments there.

We decided to walk around the village and ask the rest of the inhabitants.

Many uninhabited houses, many houses that are used as dachas.

Sergei Nikolaevich introduced us to another resident of the village, who also suffered a stove.

Village cat.

Our correspondent decided to check whether she can mow the grass. We though also city, but too we are able something!

But the villagers do not lose heart, they continue to live on. Have got used already to difficulties.

All know each other, even the door does not make sense to lock it.

The next village is called Corner.

Lydia Stepanovna tells how the rescuers on the boat came to them.

At her neighbor the house almost did not suffer, as it stands on a hillock.

Neighbors very well and for a long time communicate.

That's the whole village Corner ...

The last arrival was in the village of Pogorelovo. The village is on a high place and has not suffered from the elements.

But there lives a well-known in the district Tolya-harmonist. How not to go to such a celebrity!

Lives a half-ruined hut. He used to roam the world, now I settled in a remote village. Many interesting tales about it tell local. One day they sent him for a bottle of vodka and for food, so Tolya disappeared for as long as 2 years. But then he came back ... he lived behind the river in another abandoned village!

Tolya, well, play it!

... one, says, joy - this is the accordion and two kittens!

We drank tea from the samovar - after all, Tolya does not have electricity. Then we walked around the village and went home to write material about the side of the river and about how people live after the disaster.
