Forest river Lapinka

Lapinka is a river flowing through the Kotlas district of the Arkhangelsk region and the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region. The mouth of the river is located on the left bank of the Northern Dvina River in the precincts of the urban settlement Krasavino, namely, near the village of Skornyakovo. The length of the river is 22 kilometers.

The Lapinka River begins in a forest 10 km north-west of the city of Krasavino. The sources of the river begin in the Arkhangelsk region, then Lapinka enters the territory of Vologda region. There are no large tributaries to the river. The upper and middle course of the river passes through a deaf uninhabited forest, the lower one goes through the territory of the town of Krasavino, where a dam was built on the river and ponds were made.

I mention about Lapinka almost every time I write about Krasavino. I always write that this is a forest river, but I have never been in the forest itself. I wanted to find out for myself exactly how this river flows in the forest.

We had to go from the Kotlas–Uren highway and go in the direction of the railway along forest paths.

And go down to the river on the high-voltage line.

The banks of Lapinka are overgrown and impassable.

The track is meandering.

The bottom is sandy.

Mostly stony and rapids.

In places you can even meet small waterfalls.

Huge boulders are also found in the river bed.

Many fallen trees overlap the channel Lapinka. In some places along the trunks of trees you can cross the river.

In general, Lapinka is an ordinary forest river, a bit gloomy in late autumn.

But in order to be convinced of this, we had to overcome a difficult path.
