My Trip to the Glacier - Pictures of Franz Josef Glacier (New Zealand)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

On this trip I was visiting two glaciers in New Zealand. One of them was the popular Franz Josef Glacier and the other was the Fox Glacier. Both glaciers are amazing formation built by nature and it's really worth visiting them if you are traveling through New Zealand.

I will show you in this article some beautiful pictures of the glacier and the surroundings area.

That's me on the front of a hole from the glacier.

A beautiful view to the glacier. It looked like not being from this planet :-)

If I am visiting glaciers, I often enjoy just sit down and watch this amazing formation that was built by the nature.

Respect the warning signs, they just want to protect your life. You can go beyond, but do it never alone!

If you want to go further on the glacier you must have the right clothes and stable shoes. Do walking on the glacier can be very dangerous, because of the falling rocks and ice, invisible holes and slippery paths!

I visited several glacier until now and all of them has ice-holes in it, where the melting water is coming out. That one was the best and biggest glacier-hole I saw. If you can't imagine how big it was, just try to find the people on the top of the glacier and compare it with the hole.

That was the river formed by melting water from the glacier.

If you look at the river, there you can discover huge ice stones swimming in the river. You can also hear this ice-stones kilometers away, if they crash against other stones. It sounded like dinosaurs did jump around.

I found this little guy on a stone, he looked like a sheet. He reminded me on a citation - You Can Be What You Wanna Be. This guy decided to be a sheet.

When I reached the final spot I found also a nice place for relaxing. This stone formation was washed out by the water from the glacier.

In some area the melting water did build a nice little waterhole with clear and cold water.

I liked also the surroundings with the waterfalls in the glacier area, it looked so untouched.

There is a beautiful walk until you will reach the glacier.

It was a nice trip and I would appreciate it, to do it again.

Looks like an amazing spot. I've never been to the South Island, but someday...

I liked the South Island more than the North Island. :-)

What an incredible place! I'd love to visit there one day.

I hope your wishes come true ;-)
