Monochrome Monday - Rocks Above
Prisojnik mountain ridge as viewed from Krnica mountain hut in the Julian Alps, Slovenia.
This time monochrome image actually takes away some of the drama of the original image.
Why? Take a look at the original:
Notice the bright brown section of the mountain face? This whole group of rocks fell off recently. Yes, even the rocks like high mountains are alive and changing.
In the monochrome version of the photo the brown color is gone. The drama of a rock slide is gone with it.

Monochrome version impressed me more. You think the drama went with color? No. On the contrary, black-and-white version looks more dramatic and grander than in color. In my opinion. This atmospheric work. Great! In color bright blue sky softens the impression. Despite the terrifying story of the collapse of the stones, the sky creates a joyful mood.

Thinking of it, you might be spot on with the sky softening the drama. Looks like I did concentrate on the rocks :)
It was late afternoon and the whole cliff was already in the shadow. Few hours earlier the situation was probably different with sun casting shadows over the rocks.
I am quite often in this corner of the Julian Alps. I'll make more photos on my future visits.
