Montreal Santa Claus Parade

in #travel7 years ago

It was the annual Santa Claus Parade in downtown Montreal. The weather was beautiful outside, a perfect day for a parade. It seems like all the good parades are during the cold months here in Montreal, so it was nice that we weren’t freezing our tooshies off standing outside for over an hour. It was a great way to kick off the holiday season in the city and I have to say that I was quite impressed with the floats. Most parades that I have been to usually don’t have too many elaborate floats, and it tends to just be a lot of people walking in the street – boring!!!! The Santa Claus Parade though was quite entertaining.

They had beautifully decorated floats, like this one:

There were a lot of bands and musicians that helped keep the energy up in the crowd.

I was really impressed with the costumes and makeup. You can see that they spent a lot of time thinking up fun costumes that the kids would enjoy.

Of course, we had to represent our awesome hockey team! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!

As in every parade, there were police officers on horses. I’m not sure why they always march at the beginning of the parade, but I know that the kids love looking at the horses. In the picture below, you can clearly see that the horse is not enjoying himself as much as the kids are enjoying him. Time to retire from the force buddy!
