[CHAPTER 1] Santa Cruz, CA to Portland, OR.... By Bike!

Loaded up. You'll notice I brought a 3/4 sized guitar, a hand drum, and a solar panel to charge my phone

Looking out over Santa Cruz for one last time...

Not only was I biking to Portland, I was moving there! At least that was the plan

First campsite of the night, not far north of Santa Cruz

After-dinner tea

This was a mountain pass trail connecting Half Moon Bay to Pacifica. It was really hard!

I made lots of tea breaks. Felt like a hobbit.

San Francisco! I know I haven't shown any camping photos yet but I will get to that soon!

Crossing the Golden Gate. It's a pretty overrated experience, just really windy

Point Reyes!

I had a habit of taking pictures of boats and kayakers, really anything that floated.

Feelin' good, no complaints.

Early morning in Leggett, CA. Had bought coffee but had not yet drank it. Really feeling the outdoors here.

Made it to Humboldt!

This is basically Eureka in a nutshell. Commercial, industrial, terrifying

I opted for a motel

Halfway there!

Met a French backpacker! We shared a beer and I shared with him the simple magic of tortillas and peanut butter.

Finally a camping photo! This was definitely in the top five camping spots for the whole trip. Inside an old redwood tree!! I wish I could have lived there forever lol.

Wait, who is this? There's a wizard in these woods!

He gave me a flute on the house! And we had some sweet late night guitar-flute jam sessions.

Steve the Flute Wizard! This guy was a big highlight of my trip. I will come back and visit you, my friend!
