An evening at KRS Backwaters

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

KRS Backwaters is 28 km away from Mysore. We left Mysore around 5 PM to get there before sunset. We reached on time to capture the sunset and it was beautiful. Sun in bright orange colour getting reflected on the water then turn red and vanish was an amazing sight. The ambiance of this place makes it feel more beautiful.

On the bank of the backwaters is the temple made of stone. It is mandatory to remove the foot wares not only inside the temple but also to walk just outside the temple. There are small stages all around the temple with stone pillars. All these pillars have designs carved on them.

We did not enter the temple since it was very crowded and it was getting dark very soon. There are security guards around his place who will ask you to leave the foot wares near the temple. There are benches near the water body to enjoy the calm water and sunset. It is noticeable that the place is clean and without plastic.

The whole area is covered with an iron net to avoid any accidents. So it is not possible to go into the water. Also, there is a place with rocks which is locked up and not accessible to the public now. The rest of the place is decorated with Tulsi plants well trimmed and maintained. It is the perfect place to sit and relax.

We loved the sunset. It may sound cliche but it is very special to see the sun so bright and turning into orange and then red. To add to the beauty of the whole process, the water just makes an orange tint on the surface. The tiny boat, rocks, shadows, colors and every little element here make the scene picture perfect!

Though it is the time of selfies it is nice to have a picture taken by someone else. So here is our picture with the smiling faces taken by a stranger.

There are many food stalls near this place and most of them sell fish and other snacks. The road to KRS backwaters is very disappointing and if you are not careful then dangerous too. With many potholes and speed limiters with huge bumps make the journey difficult to reach here. Since it was getting dark we decided to leave and head back to Mysore.

On the way to Mysore is Brindavan Garden, famous for its garden area and the light and sound show in the evening. There are many stalls that are made in the shape of fish on the roadside of this garden. There was this one time where we thought we almost fell from our two-wheeler because of the speed breaker. It becomes difficult to see the bumps and patches on the road with the light from the other side.

The road to KRS backwaters goes through villages in Karnataka. It is very common to see haystacks, sheep herds, milking the cows on the roadside and small colourful houses on the sides of these roads. On the way back there was one road decorated with fairy lights and songs from the temple nearby. Then the wind became chilly and cold started to crawl on us and we reached back Mysore with two pair of blocked nostrils.
