A TRUELY BIZARRE BEACH NEXT TO A VENETIAN FORTRESS ON THE CROATIAN ISLAND OF VIR

About a half an hours drive from the Croatian city of Zadar there is an island connected by a bridge. On the island there are the remains of an old Venetian fortress, the symbol of the island.

As interesting as that might be, it's the beach to the right that i would consider to be the bigger attraction. The layers in the rock are vertical! No matter how many amateur geologists i bring to this beach, we just can't figure out what might of caused this.

The layers then extend out to sea, quite deep (i've done some snorkeling there) in perfectly parallel lines.

You know this can't be natural when your looking at it, it's just too weird. So my best guess is that it was the quarry for the stone used to build the fortress.

Nevertheless, a wonderful place to spend the day with the family.
Very few people there, crystal clear, calm water... quiet and peaceful.
Up above the cliff there is a pine forest with plenty of shade.
Tie up your hammock, crack open the eski and think about those Venetian bastards destroying our beautiful coastline.
You wonder if they were aware of the fantastic beach they were creating.
Probably not...

But everything they touched turned to gold.
