Travel #10 Touch down DUBAI .... July 2017...

in #travel7 years ago

Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

40 years ago there was nothing here, and now you have one of the biggest metropolis on earth! Dubai, known as the entertainment capital of the Middle East, is a city full of greatness: galleries showcasing contemporary Arabic art, cosy teahouses, crowded souks filled with gold, spices and fine Emirati cuisine, a sleek metro that zips through the sky like something out of Blade Runner, man-made islands, giant shopping malls, indoor ski, water parks, clubs and bars, desert, luxury hotels, fountain shows… well there’s a thousand things to do in Dubai.

Dubai has a tropical desert climate, köppen classification Bwh, because of its location within the Northern desert belt. Summers are extremely hot and humid,[1] with an average high around 41 °C (106 °F) and overnight lows around 30 °C (86 °F). The highest recorded temperature in Dubai is 55 °C (131 °F) in 2002.[2] Most days are sunny throughout the year. Winters are warm and short with an average high of 23 °C (73 °F) and overnight lows of 14 °C (57 °F). Precipitation, however, has been increasing in the last few decades with accumulated rain reaching 150 mm (5.91 in) per year.[3] The weather in Dubai can bring short and irregular rainfall as is typical for the Middle East. Most of the rainfall occurs in the December to March period. The weather between December and March remains warm and is considered to be the most comfortable climatic conditions of the year.

Dubai is home to some of the best beaches in the UAE! ... However, there are beaches that can be enjoyed at no cost whatsoever or for a minimal charge. Lifeguards, clean sand, showers and changing rooms are ever present. Jumeirah Beach and Al Mamzar Park have just been awarded blue flag beach status...

ne of Dubai’s claims to fame is its vibrant night life; Dubai has much to offer in terms of late night entertainment and the emirate regularly hosts some of the most popular club nights and DJs from around the globe. There are many bars and nightclubs in Dubai, though most of these are located in hotels. The crowd varies from club to club, but mostly consists of a mix of party goers of both Eastern and Western origin. Most clubs are packed on Thursday and Friday nights (expect the most popular haunts to have long waiting lines) as Thursday signals the end of the work week and Fridays and Saturdays are weekends for most working people in Dubai. Many popular hotspots host a ladies club night on Tuesday where ladies can enter for free and are sometimes even offered free drinks. Previously, most clubs allowed free entry, but in recent years with the explosion of the night life scene in Dubai, club enthusiasts can expect to pay a cover charge of up to AED200
