Low budget but perfect vacation in Croatia - read this and seize the oportunity

Dalmatia

Dalmatia is a region in Croatia, but once was one of the richest provinces of the Roman Empire. Everybody wanted Dalmatia for themselves. Romans, then later, Franks, Goths, Avars, Mongols, Turks, Venetians and many other peoples spilled their blood on Croatian territory trying to conquer this paradise on the Earth. Rich history made our cities look like castles or medieval towns. Cities in Dalmatia are (from north to south): Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik. 

About 78% of Croatian islands are in Dalmatia. Some of them are really small and desolated, perfect for camping, swimming, diving, fishing and relaxing. 

Seafood

All food you can find in restaurants in Dalmatia is fresh and made by top gastronomic standards. I would suggest you an octopus with potatoes under the lid, or a grilled bream. You can find delicious clamshells, squid and all the best species of fish. If you don't like sea food, you can try Dalmatian lamb (Dalmatinska janjetina), but if you do not eat meat at all, you should know that all fruits and vegetables are homemade, fresh and healthy.

Dalmatian wines

Dalmatian wines have a history dating back to the Ancient Greeks 2500 years ago.   Many traditional grape varieties still survive in Croatia, perfectly suited to our local wine hills. I would suggest "Primoštenski Babić", premium red wine from the town of Primošten. 

The Game of Thrones filming locations

Many scenes of  The Game of Thrones series have been taken in Dalmatia. Cities of Braavos, Meereen, Volantis and Kings Landing are Croatian cities Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik. This fact attracted tourist from all parts of the world. Ok, the series producers put some "makeup" on our cities, but not too much, because this location is just made for filming this kind of scenes.

Tourists all around

Every day in the summer you can see people from China, Taiwan, India, Americas, and from every country in Europe. Reason for this are mostly music festivals, cheap prices and warm sea. People come to see The islands of Kornati and National Park Krka, rare beauties of Mother Nature.
