How to tackle youth unemployment in Africa

in #travel6 years ago

Why do African governments, especially the Cameroon government, seem unable to generate jobs for their millions of young people who are then forced to undertake dangerous migration journeys in search of greener pastures?

Inadequate economic models. Added to this, the countries of the continent are depriving them of resources through corruption and investments in important police and military mechanisms often deployed to suppress it's citizens.

Also, dishonest leaders are plotting with Western countries to plunder Africa's resources and further develop Europe. So ... what would dissuade these young people from following the stolen resources of Africa?

On the other hand, young people who are tempted to leave Africa for other continents do not leave their continent just looking for a job. In Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East, they also hope to gain easier access to basic needs such as food, education, and decent housing.

African countries should design their economic models in such a way that economic services are able to meet these basic needs so that "no one is left behind" in the pursuit of prosperity.

It is worth emphasizing, however, that Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East are not the first destinations for Africans leaving their countries of origin. Most, especially young people, leave their countries to other African countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Senegal and Ghana which are perceived as offering more opportunities compared to their neighboring countries. These young women and men, who are passing from one African country to another, do so to flee persecution at home, to escape political environments that offer no hope for the future or simply to seek better opportunities.

As a result, it could be argued that, in addition to using inadequate economic models, many African leaders are also wasting their country's resources by repressing their own citizens by strengthening their army and police. By stealing resources from the continent to develop Europe, they are also colluding with Western countries. This is why young Africans think that the solution is to follow African resources where they go, in the West.

An economic model that makes humanity its priority is the only one that can survive the test of time. This economic model is what Africa needs to be able to use its youth. This is what humanity needs.
