Tomb Raider Angkor Wat

After watching the movie, Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie, my dream came true when we took the 6 hour night bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

I was expecting a third world country but to my surpised it was quite advanced. All the ATM spits out crisp US dollars. Food costs as much as I pay eating out in Canada.

Angkor Wat was definitely a wonderful visit. There are many temples in Siem Reap and you need to hire a Tuk Tuk for a day to go to all the temples as they are far and wide in between. Paying the tuk tuk driver was an investment because USD$20 included an 8 hour tour pick up and drop off from the hotel, bottle water throughout the whole day in the heat and it also includes stopover for lunch.

We bought durian ice cream made by the locals and it was delicious. I was skeptical about getting food poisoning but I was reassured it was safe. Overall a fun day in ancient lands that definitely brought me back in time.
