The Hoh Rain Forest, Mora Campground, Forks, Washington

Yesterday I took you to one of the most, if not the most, beautiful places I've ever been- called Second Beach (or Rialto Beach) in La Push near Forks, Washington.

Today I'm taking you up the road to Mora campground located in The Hoh Rain forest, where we slept during our magical stay in this enchanting place.

We made many stops along the side of the road like this one on our vacation:

Talk about a treat for the eyes!

And while I am partial to views of the water..

..I don't object to one of trees, especially as green and tall as these.

As soon as we drove in to this campground I knew we had found a small paradise, a perfect place to lay our heads at night.

What I didn't know until just after our heads hit the pillows,

was that the denseness of this forest would not muffle the crashing of the waves from the beach down the road!

You really could not ask for a better place to stay, surrounded by life in such a beautiful way.
And rocked to sleep by the ocean at night which made up for the absence of light...okay I can stop rhyming now. But it was extremely dark there, deep dark woods like I've never seen.

And I lived in the middle of woods in the Ozark mountains!

What place can you go where even the path to the bathroom is photo worthy?

I should add the one and only flaw to this place- no showers. You have to go up the road to the diner where they have coin operated ones.

But being no stranger to roughing it, we did just fine.

Though mostly we used the campground as a temporary home base, we did get in some exploring here

And found this abandoned stage. Perhaps it was used for some renditions of Twilight during the film's peak?

Ferns seem to be a trademark of rain forests. Rain Forest, so cool. It still hits me as we had no idea we would find such a place on our travels.

It was typical to see moss on everything, with mini trees and plants growing out of it.

And while the trees weren't quite the size of redwoods, they are by far the largest and tallest Pines I've ever seen.

There is nothing like campfires. Sigh.

Just as I recommended visiting the beach I most definitely recommend Mora Campground as a place to stay while sightseeing.

Tip- if you have an America is Beautiful National Park Pass, you only pay ten bucks a night here!
