Wow, I can't believe I've never heard of this! I've only been to Florida once, on a long road trip down the east coast (Boston to Miami!). This is just the kind of peculiar old Americana I love, vestiges of a different world tucked away but still chugging along...it's on my list now!
It really is a hidden gem that's for sure. I would've loved to see it in it's heyday, but even now it still has a certain "je ne sais quoi" and hopefully will be around for many future generations. If you ever find yourself back in FL, check it out :)
