ME
I've worked in Asia for almost 3 decades and though I live alot of the time in UK (at the moment, you can see from the video it's pretty cold here) I spend a lot of time working in a Thai environment, negotiating on a daily basis.

HOLIDAY NEGOTIATING TIPS
I thought it might be useful for those who want to know more about negotiating and maybe give it a go when they are next on holiday. It's also pretty useful a technique for those who are in business with people in Thaland as it the same theory works through out commerce.

MAIN GOAL
So the main goal of the video is to get a great price for the souvenir you want.

3 STEP FOCUS
As well as 'Pace and Lead', the video explains the key aspects of getting the process right

  1. 'Know the market' - do the research - work from a core price framework
  2. 'Pace' or get on with the salesman or woman
  3. 'Lead' the sales man down to agree to your price.

In addition to the video it is worth noting that if you have a lot of time, and enjoy the process, and to get an even better price, you can use this system with multiple sellers to work out which person will give the best rate.

COMMENT
Some people are born with a natural negotiators, it's in their soul and we all know of people who always seem to get incredible prices for everything the buy. However, for those of us, where it doesnt come naturally, this system is a blow by blow guide that will make you negotiate like a pro. It is also a great way to get to meet Thai people in the street. and also get you into conversation with a lod of fun people.

I'm going to put a few images below in the replies to give you a further idea of what I'm talking about.

BUSINESS SUCCESS
If you do business in Thailand the 3 step focus is the same.

  1. Do your research and know the cost of what you want to buy by researching on the internet, asking businesses in different provinces what they would charge for their products.
  2. Get to know the seller. Go out, spend some time with the decision makers. Golf or restaurant life might tick that box.
  3. Be patient, resilient and dont be distracted from the price you want. But dont want it too fast as you would miss the better deal.

IN SUMMARY
Negotiate with Pace and Lead to be a happy shopper and deal maker!

P.S.
Asian and European cultures can be so different so it is worth checking the associated Blog http://russellabroad.blogspot.co.uk/ that explains the art of the deal.
