Have you thought about traveling in the basement of the airplane? Airbus will make beds available from 2020
The company stresses that "it is studying this hypothesis in order to make long-haul travel more comfortable for passengers".
The airline Airbus will have beds from 2020 so that its passengers can take a "nap". Bloomberg states that the models will be introduced into the cargo area and initially only Airbus A330s will be equipped with these beds.
The idea of sleeping areas had already been mentioned last month by Australian airline Qantas. Chief Executive Alan Joyce said the company "is looking at this hypothesis to make long-haul travel more comfortable for passengers".
Qantas has been exploring direct flights from Australia to the US, but also to Europe, which would force passengers on a 17-hour journey. Alan Joyce also points out that Qantas can introduce a fourth-class structure with part of the loading zone to be used for laying beds.
Airbus is considering the possibility of placing similar compartments also in its A350 model.
Thanks for your time!
If you appreciate the work I´m doing:
I think the longest flight I have ever been on was only three hours, but that is a very interesting concept. I wonder how they will handle the safety issues that might arise with turbulence and things like that. Maybe if they just left a little more space in the seats up top like they had back int he day, it wouldn't be such an issue. Thanks for posting!
I think the idea is super interesting and most of all is very good for publicity, because our society nowadays need to sleep a lot :D
I understand that feeling, they really should just give more space in the seats, but the reality is that the prices would explode for everybody, and this way only people who can afford a 4th-class will be "traveling in beds", only raising the prices to those type of people. (I hope)!
You are right, it is an interesting idea and it will be something to watch for!
