That all this explosive mixture in 1686 was annexed to the Habsburg empire. And in 1873, a separate Hungarian kingdom was formed, which received great rights and self-government as part of Austria-Hungary. But still it is not independence, but the second role. Therefore, the Hungarians have always tried to prove that they are in no way inferior to Austria and its capital, Vienna.

Budapest tried to surpass Vienna, as happened in Russia between Moscow and St. Petersburg. This competition was reflected in the architecture of Budapest. There are the same majestic buildings, palaces, squares. No worse museums, parks.

Although, in my opinion, the architecture of Budapest is more lively than the frozen monuments of Vienna
