Hyannis

Welcome to Cape Cod

Today we made our way from Providence, Rhode Island to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Cape Cod is a peninsula that extends into the Atlantic Ocean. It is scattered with historic towns and is a popular spot for tourists, particularly during the summer season.

Our home base during our stay on Cape Cod is Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Trying to get a photo of the sign from a moving car... not the easiest.

One of the first things we stumbled upon when coming into town.... THIS SIGN!!!

PHINNEY’S LANE!!!!

So my last name is Finney. All of the Finney’s and the Phinneys in the USA are descended from one of two lines. (The spelling of the name has altered back and forth over time.) The first Finney in the USA came in the 1600’s to Plymouth from England. She is known as Mothrr Finney. The family eventually settled in the Barnstable area... which is where Hyannis is located. So this means.... Phinneys Lane is one of MY people!!! Good times. ☺️
Hyannis is cute. Our hotel is right on the harbor and has a great nautical vibe. I got some hammock time when we first arrived. Then we walked along the waterfront to find a nice spot for lunch. Along the walk we passed several colorful sheds which served as artist’s studios.

Lunch at Spanky’s Clam Shack.

After lunch we went for a little drive. We made stops at Kalmus Beach, a jeweler and at a PRIRATE themed mini golf course! (@stokjockey I am finally going to come through for you on the next #piratesunday. 😉)

There were two 18 hole courses at this pirate themed wonder!

Stay tuned for more from Massachusetts tomorrow! 😃

That must be pretty cool to find a street / area named after your family! My family settled Quebec and parts of New- Brunswick 400 years ago. I'm still amazed by the fact the little villages still carry the names to my ancestors lordships. Seems like you had a great adventure!! Taking pictures out of a moving vehicle is easier said then done! I'm still trying to master the craft. Thanks for bringing us on your adventure!
