Road to Strab Tour (Mozambique - Africa)

in #travel7 years ago

We recently returned from our Road to Strab tour where we started off in Stellenbosch (South Africa) and ended up at Strab in Mozambique (Africa.) Here is a little bit of the ruckuss and restlessness.

Day 1:

We went via car to Cape Town train station with all our gear and luggage, where we got on the Shosholoza Meyl (A sleeper train). We got on the train at 10am on the Thursday, we settled into our room and went off to the dinning hall to go and tackle the bar a bit.

We basically partied the night through and the next day we had a shower on a moving train looking at the Karoo landscapes, which is pretty great??? We then had some breakfast and waited for the train to arrive.

The train got to Park Station in Johannesburg the Friday at about 4pm, after a few failed attempts we got an Uber to take us to our accomadation for the night. We were playing the first show of the tour at The GoodLuck Bar.

The next day we got an Uber to take us to Pretoria for our last two shows in Guateng. We started the day off with a nice long rehearsall and then we went off to our second show at Klitsgras Drumming.

The next day we played a quick one man acoustic set before we picked up our rental car and left for Strab in Mozambique. After a roughly 7 hour drive through the night we reach the Kosi Bay Border, where we left our car to take a border transfer (You can only get into Mozambique using a 4x4). We Reached Ponta Malongane after about a 30 minute ride.

It was the first time anyone in the band went to Mozambique or Strab fest, the next 2 days we drank RnR's and Dous M (The Local drinks) and ate prawns. The Friday night we play most probably one of our best ever live sets as the crowd of a thousand odd festival goers enjoyed the music with us on the beach of Mozambique. The next two days with a magical bliss we just enjoyed the rest of the trip.

The road back was a bit rough including sleeping on the airport waiting for a bus and crying babies but after 26 hours we where finally back home in Stellenboch.. After two days off solid sleep we are ready to go again, where to next though?
