Next destination under the sea

Traveling is my obsession and diving in warm water with a lot of fish and nice corals is one of the goals on nearly every trip we do.

2 day liveaboard ship tour

Said this, today we start to a world class Dive site in Egypt we we might see some dolphins.

Starting early morning

Alarm clock did the job at 5:00 O‘clock in the night and I grab my diving bag and motivated with my family to be on time for the pickup. .

Donkey Detlev has to carry all the dive gear for the group of four. This are a lot of fins, masks and wetsuits.

Lovely job at 5:40 in the morning without a coffee.

Where do we dive and snorkel?

There is a world top dive site in the middle of the Red Sea and this is called Sataya reef.

This location is 90 Minutes away from the next harbor in the south of Egypt and the place is knows about having dolphins living there.

So, we might have the luck to see some dolphins at this place.

The Egyptian travel authority says about the Sataya/Dolphin Reef:

Shaab Sataya, also known as the Dolphin Reef is located at the south-eastern tip of the Fury Shoal diving area off Marsa Alam. This horseshoe shaped reef has been aptly named after the friendly mammals that can be spotted regularly on site. Additionally, you'll be amazed by whitetips, fusiliers, Spanish dancers and parrotfish, at different depths, from 4 to 40 metres. The site can be reached by boat from Marsa Alam and is included on many liveaboard Red Sea dive safari trails. If you're not really into scuba, it is also a perfect destination for snorkelling.

Going to the harbor

To be able to enjoy the fun, we have to drive around 2 and a half hours on the not so perfect roads in Egypt but with some music and our really funny guide, the time flies by.

Let‘s say it that way - it is different - and the word pier for a few ships in the middle of the Egyptian sand - would fit better. But it did the job and we are on the boat to see some dolphins.

Diving and Snorkeling

Our trip was organized by reef divers and our very helpful guide Mohamed Badawy, who is as well a perfect under water camara guy.

This dive boat was next to ours. As doing a picture of the boat your are on, is a bit difficult, we did this instead.
