Mindanao Travel Blog Post #11: Majestic Kapatagan La Libertad Lake Adventure

The La Libertad Lake Adventure in Kapatagan Lanao del Norte is one huge stunning man-made lake in Lanao del Norte that is not far from the very heart of the town- Kapatagan.

As what I have said, this man-made lake is situated specifically at the top of La Libertad Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte and is said to have an estimated total land area of 10 to 15 hectares.

After we had an almost three hours travel van ride from Linamon Lanao del Norte to the main center of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte; we then managed to ride a habal-habal going to the main site of La Libertad Lake.

It took us 20 minutes (11km) in order to arrive at La Libertad Lake from Kapatagan Public Market.

And by the time we step our foot at the place, pictorials and lots of pictorials, which is one of our main purpose, was then executed spontaneously.

With all the water rides they can offer, we immediately jumped off our asses down to their affordable big bicycle water ride.

At first, the bicycle ride was a bit hard to perform, but later on, we were able to make the best stomping around the lake, but with lots of efforts too LOL!

Love the fresh and cool air around and that is why we didn't mind the scorching heat of the sun.

Took lots of photos that day and screamed our lungs out loud on how we really did enjoy the whole day with such an adventure experienced we will never forget.

Getting There

Coming from Iligan City Terminal Bus, you can ride a bus that is bound to Kapatagan Lanao del Norte. And after arriving at Kapatagan main center you can ride a motorcycle ride that is called habal-habal ride. In this matter, I suggest you ride habal-habal instead of those motorcycle rides with sidecar because the place is quite located on a high land area. The locals in Kapatagan are so good and very accommodating, they will cater you safely towards your destination.

Tips for fellow budget traveler

1. If you want to enjoy the view and picture taking in full version I suggest you to bring a Waterproof Mobile Phone Case Dry Cover Bag Pouch , it will help you keep your phone very safe and most of all you can carry it around your neck. They only cost less than $5.

2. You can have your meal in the town center of Kapatagan before going for a 40 minutes habal-habal ride, back and forth.

3. If you are not on a diet, I also suggest that you will need to bring your fave snack food and a ready to carry water in case you'll need them.

4. If you have a sensitive skin you can bring a mosquito repellent lotion. Or if you don't wanna get tan lines after the adventure, I suggest that you might need to apply sunscreen lotion before the adventure. In our case, we love our tan lines, because they are the lovely souvenirs we had in our joyful adventure.

5. Baggage counter is not available around but you can leave your stuff to the attending staff of the said place. That is why you should not bring too much bulky stuff, just bring the things that are important.
