Naawan Waterfalls Part 3

in #travel7 years ago

This is the third part of my post about the Naawan waterfalls. Please check out Parts 1 and 2 if you haven't checked them out already. Naawan is not a part of Iligan. It is a rural municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines.

Aya-aya Falls

The rock wall of this waterfalls is made of Tufa Limestone. It grows a few millimeters every year. No one exactly know how much it grows. There has been no public documentations that existed. If there was, then that would be great. That would be exciting to know how long it has been growing for thousands of years.

Further upstream, there are a few pools that you could swim in. But, it is best to hire some local kids to show you around. There are some areas that you must need to take some extra safety precautions.

You might be asking yourself what in the world is that circle in the middle? My former classmate really doesn't know what it is. Does anybody know?

Here is the part where extra care must be observed. As you can see, the water suddenly disappears and goes into that hole. It's another waterfall down there alright.

Well, well, well...It could be a well or a waterfall. Either of the two then you must be careful right here. It's not much common to see something like this one.

Another natural pool to get some refreshing swim after a few meters of walking through the river upstream.

Then you'll have another one to swim unto. For a nature lover and avid swimmer, this place is the place to go. At least if there were rain days before.

Here are other pools and there are many more around here when going upstream.

That's it. Thanks for reading and please upvote it.

how beautiful! and peacigiving it looks!

I had the pleasure of viewing all three in this series and the pictures are amazing. Any idea how deep that waterfall into the well was? Looks like it would have been awesome to jump into if it was deep enough, and had a way out!

No idea, but I am sure deep enough to scare me.

What beautiful landscapes really give the soul a rest
